Countertop
In this message would not be any photo images you can see in my blog older pages. If it is easier for you, I made headline in text, to see in which blog you need to look for photos. From project beginning to the end.
In the first text (concrete counertop _ betona virtuves virsma)
There are pictures about making molding and about concrete.
At the beginning you have to draw project, to see that will all look like. To find all dimensions you would need to know. For example, you need to know how wide is counter-top in your region, how big is kitchen technique, size of holes for water elements you will need for your sink.
Trust me, there are many dimensions you need to find out before you start to do something. You would think, you have measured and considered all, (but I know you don't), I recommend you to draw somewhere all kitchen elements, to see how all will fit in your vision.
Concrete
To understand how thin you will cast your counter-top, you need to choose way to make concrete. In Youtube you can see many examples how to make concrete with metal elements inside. in this case you need to be sure, that metal don't meet air (to avoid rusting). The way you want to make this kind of concrete, minimum is 5 cm (2 inch) thick concrete. There are many ways you can make concrete. The way I do this is bit different I have seen. Instead of putting metal elements, I used fiberglass mesh. Fiberglass have no problems with air ( and rusting), that way, your counter-top can be thinner.
I used 2 coats with fiberglass and many more around sink. At home Depo I have found special liquid for concrete to make it stronger and more flexible. I used white cement (stronger then ordinary), 2 different small fraction quartz sand, special liquid, black color.
Mold
I see just 2 types of way how to make it. In right direction at the beginning, or make it upside down. I chose second variant.with upside down method, all the time there are more time spent in thinking. For mold I used materials that I got very easy. If you can make all platform from one material, take one. I don`t have car that can carry big sheet materials, so I did what I could. For the best results make mold as smooth as you can. About sink I don't want to tell much. I made it from foam and plaster. Then you complete making mold, make the same size and form cardboard to test size, to check if the prototype fits.
At the end you need to make sure that the mold will be easily separated from concrete. I used lubricant WD40 (AB80)

Grinding
If all previous things is done correctly, the hardest job is gone.
For better, smoother grinding I used primer. Primer makes surface more harder and grinding easier. It is up to you, how shinny surface you want. At the end I used varnish to finish and make it waterproof. I didn`t like concrete color so I painted counter-top in other tone before varnish.
If you need some special detailed information, do not hesitate to write in comments! I will try to do my best to answer to you.
